Enter Shikari frontman has shared some harsh thoughts on Taylor Swift‘s controversial ticketing campaign surrounding new album Reputation.
Swift has teamed up with Ticketmaster to allow fans to increase their chances of buying tickets by setting out a list of challenges supposedly set to boost their position in line.
The challenges include tweeting about the vocalist’s new album, as well as buying a copy of the album from no less than 13 different retailers.
Although the intentions behind this are to quash touts and bots, it seems to be the case that the ticketing scheme has left a sour taste in many fellow musician’s mouths.
A shocked (and quite rightly so) Reynolds shared his thoughts on the matter today, declaring that Swift was “fleecing her fans“. Check out his tweets below.
The most sickening thing is that this ultra-capitalistic exploitation of fans is beneath a veneer of morality – stopping ticket bots/touts https://t.co/YjWFQM64Eb

Bots/touts fleece fans by reselling tickets for a higher price. She’s not stopping them, she is replacing them. She is fleecing her own fans

What about young passionate fans who can’t afford the boosts? They will experience stress & inferiority as they’re progress bar lowers.

It’s set out like a game, psychologically it feels good to watch a progress bar rise, conditioning them to spend far more money than normal

Rounding off his rant, Reynolds took out the time to share a cheeky Shikari take on the scheme, which includes asking fans to write guitarist Rory C a thesis.
