Iron Maiden Unveil First New Song in Five Years

Next month, legendary metallers Iron Maiden will release their 16th studio album The Book of Souls. It’s the first sign of new music from Bruce Dickinson and co. since 2010′s The Final Frontier, which was spearheaded by free download El Dorado. Now, the band have unveiled The Book of Souls’ lead single, Speed of Light.

Speed of Light trudges along in typical Maiden fashion, with Dickinson’s soaring vocals intertwining effortlessly with Janick Gers, Adrian Smith and Dave Murray’s solid guitar work. The track is nothing different to what you could ever expect from Maiden, meaning that old fans will be satisfied just as much as newer ones.

The accompanying music video for Speed of Light sees Maiden’s well-recognized mascot, Eddie, travel through space & time in what has been described as a “homage to 40 years of video gaming”.

The Book of Souls is Iron Maiden’s first studio album since 2010′s The Final Frontier, having been recorded in Paris last year with Kevin Shirley. The band plan to tour the record in 2016, with Bruce Dickinson back in full health after recovering from cancer earlier this year. Jack Parker
