Text & Images: Madison Truscan. Dallas’ Bomb Factory was transformed into a tropical island hideaway as Qveen Herby arrived in her typical extravagant fashion to perform her Isle of Qveen tour on July 18th.
Qveen Herby is nothing shy of a PERFORMER. Every element of the tour was thoughtfully curated, from the elaborate set design to the over-the-top costumes, from the feminist rap lyrics to the high energy choreography, and everything in between.
The stage is set with a massive volcano, flame torches, and a life-size ship titled “SS QUEEN”. Qveen emerges behind a white screen, her silhouette outlined as the crowd itches with anticipation to see her outfit reveal. Finally, she greets the crowd, and the ground nearly shakes from how loud the audience screamed. She’s dressed head to toe in bright nautical garb, her sleek black bob and red boots completing the look. She kicked off the show with fan-favorite songs “Sensational”, “Self Aware” and “MY SZN”, before bringing out her equally amazing opener, THOT SQUAD, to perform their collaborative hit, “The Fool”.

Later on in the set, Qveen Herby changed into a bedazzled mermaid tail and feather headpiece, perched atop a shell chair. It truly felt like something straight out of a storybook. Even while sitting, she has the stage presence of multiple people, and every fan in the audience seemed to be completely under her spell, unable to look away.
OG fans honored Qveen and the multiple personas she’s had over the years, including the chart-breaking duo Karmin, made up of her and her husband, to which she paid homage to with a ukulele cover of their 2012 smash hit “Brokenhearted”.
The icing on the cake to accompany Qveen Herby’s storytelling capabilities was her abundance of joy and appreciation for the crowd and being able to perform. You can tell she LOVES what she does and doesn’t take a single second of this tour for granted. It felt so much deeper than the surface level gratitude other artists convey, this felt authentic, and certainly converted us into new Qveen Herby fans. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
