Australian psychlords King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have released another full chapter of music from their upcoming concept masterpiece Murder of the Universe.
The record is split into three coherent chapters, all of which are interconnected with previous studio albums I’m In Your Mind Fuzz and Nonagon Infinity and form a masterfully illustrated whole.
Stu Mackenzie and co. will put out the record (their second of five this year) on 23 June, with the third chapter (Han-Tyumi & the Murder of the Universe) having seen the light of day in April.
Now, the septet have shared its preceding chapter, Chapter 2: The Lord of Lightning vs The Balrog. It features the previously performed tracks The Lord of Lightning and The Balrog, as well as the throat singing-infused The Reticent Raconteur and sludge-tinged The Floating Fire. Watch it below.
Murder of the Universe comes out on 23 June via Flightless Records. It follows February’s Flying Microtonal Banana, and precedes Sketches of East Brunswick, which the band will release later this year.
