Ghost have shared a brand new track.

Dance Macabre is the latest track to be lifted from Cardinal Copia and co.’s new album Prequelle, which is due on 1 June via Loma Vista Recordings and serves as the follow-up to 2015’s Meliora. Thew single comes in the midst of the band’s Rats! on the Road US tour, which sees the Swedish group take on some of their biggest venues to date.

For those unaware, the phrase Dance Macabre slots in nicely with the conceptual path Copia and his ghouls have undertaken on Prequelle. At the height of the plague in the mid-1300s, infected villagers were led to believe that they would collapse and die when the clock struck midnight. This in turn saw all the men of the village frequent local brothels for one last night of pleasure, before stumbling out into the street and exhaling their final breath. Dance Macabre tackles these last hours of life, as well as the intense measures which people reach for on the verge of a grim death.
