Earlier this year, Rotterdam’s Rotown announced details of a Secret Show set to take place last night. Every week, the Dutch venue would give visitors a hint as to who would be taking to the stage on 9 July, including references to Oasis covers, SXSW line-ups and Marie-Henri Beyle. It eventually became apparent that Bristol hellraisers IDLES held the identity of Rotown’s first ever Secret Show, having sold more than half of the tickets before people even knew they’d be appearing. That’s quite some dedication, and it proved to be worth the risk once the show sold out a couple of weeks later. Last night, IDLES took on the Rotown and subsequently tore it a new one. Jack Parker checked it out, and it looked a bit like this.
New album Joy As An Act of Resistance is out on 31 August.
