There aren’t many festivals who can stack a line-up full of quality artists all the way from the top to the bottom, and even less who pull off this feat on an annual basis. Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival is a prime example of what a qualitatively strong and fun festival should look like, from its ferris wheels and A-list bill toppers to its astroturf and ice cold Estrella’s. This year, the Spanish bash is headlined by Foo Fighters, Florence + the Machine, twenty one pilots and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, with Kings of Leon, Moby, David Byrne and The War on Drugs also heading to Madrid’s Villaverde District. We’ve singled out five artists you need to check out in Madrid next month who may have slipped under the radar when they were first announced.
