Next weekend’s Reading & Leeds festivals have collectively agreed to ban the pineapple amid fears of an influx during Glass Animals‘ set.
The Dave Bayley-fronted outfit’s single Pork Soda has become a fan favourite during their live shows, with the lyric “Pineapples are in my head” often causing fans to bring the famed fruit out to live performances.
Now, Reading & Leeds have both taken action by advising fans to not bring them into the festival arena for safety reasons. As expected, Glass Animals have responded in disappointment.
Describing the ban as “fruitist“, the indie-poppers added that: “Watermelons are fine, but not pineapples? Anyone who wasn’t bringing a pineapple definitely is now”.
Whether or not Reading & Leeds will enforce the ban with intent remains to be seen, however we can only hope that both festivals will be met with an influx of the popular fruit.
Listen to Pork Soda below, and catch the band at Lowlands Festival on Friday (18 August).
