Both German rock festival Rock am Ring and Dutch weekender Pinkpop have announced names for their respective 2016 editions today. Whereas Pinkpop has confirmed its first two headliners, Rock am Ring has announced a whole load of new names.
One thing both festivals have in common is the announcement of returning rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers (below) as headliner. In Holland, the US quartet will be joined by Rammstein as fellow headliners. These are the only two names that Pinkpop has announced so far, yet there are still roughly 45 to follow.

Rock am Ring, on the other hand, has announced an extremely strong selection of bands who will take to the stage in Mendig next June, including three strong headliners in the Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath and Volbeat. The new additions are: Alligatoah, Amon Amarth, Architects, August Burns Red, Beach Slang, Biffy Clyro, Billy Talent, Black Sabbath, Bring Me the Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine, Disturbed, Deftones, Fettes Brot, Fittenbrude, Heaven Shall Burn, Heisskalt, ISSUES, Johnossi, Korn, Lexy & K-Paul, Major Lazer, Milliarden, Of Mice & Men, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rudimental, SDP, Tesseract, The 1975, The Amity Affliction, Trivium and Volbeat.
