Norwegian pop singer Sigrid has been crowned as BBC’s official Sound of 2018.
The list intends to showcase the best new talent which the music industry has to offer year after year, with the likes of Rex Orange County, Khalid and Pale Waves also featuring in this year’s top 5. Previous winners of the BBC Sound of… poll have included Adele and Ellie Goulding.
Speaking of the victory, 21-year old Sigrid told the BBC that “it’s a huge honour” adding that she “doesn’t know how to explain it.”
With just a handful of singles to her name, Sigrid has managed to capture the hearts of critics and fans alike by means of her unique vocals and literate lyrical style.
Smash hit Strangers has already proven its worth by being hailed as a pop anthem in the making. We’d like to congratulate Sigrid on her success.
