Both Lowlands and Dour Festival have announced that Sigur Rós will be their first headliner for next summer’s editions. The announcement was made this morning, with the Icelandic band confirming that they will be touring Europe in support of a new album.
A post on the band’s own Facebook page said: “we are pleased to announce that we are playing festivals next summer in the spirit of adventure. all we can say right now is it’s going to be different, with new unreleased songs, a new show and maybe some other *new* things. beyond that, we can only ask you to trust us on this one.” A new album, the follow-up to Kveikur, thus looks set to come out in 2016.
Lowlands Festival takes place from 19-21 August 2016, with the band appearing on 20 August. Dour Festival, on the other hand, takes place from 13-17 July. Tickets for Lowlands go onsale next February, but you can buy a limited amount of Dour tickets here.
