Two Contrasting Evenings in The Netherlands With King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

There aren’t many artists who can follow up a rave performance with an orchestral reimagining of their already-diverse back catalogue. But King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard aren’t a normal band. Far from, in fact. On Thursday evening (6 November), the Aussie six-piece treated a sold out 013 in Tilburg to a rave set featuring synth reworkings of old favourites as well as cuts from electronic albums Butterfly 3000 and The Silver Cord. The following night, accompanied by Sinfonia Rotterdam and conductor Chad Kelly, they performed new album Phantom Island in full alongside a number of orchestrally adapted fan favourites. Here’s a look at what went down across the last couple of days.

Night 1 – Tilburg

Night 2 – Den Bosch
