Eagles of Death Metal Return to the Stage

Following the horrific events which took place in Paris last month, Eagles of Death Metal have stayed true to their word and returned to Paris. In November, terrorist attacks throughout Paris meant that more than 100 people died, incuding 89 at the Bataclan Theatre, where Eagles of Death Metal were playing.

The band, minus Josh Homme, took to the stage as U2′s special guests during a show at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris’ Bercy area. Introducing the band onstage, Bono told the 20,000 strong crowd that “They were robbed off their stage three weeks ago“, before inviting the band onstage.

What followed was a cover of Patti Smith’s People Have the Power, before Bono and co. left the stage for Jesse Hughes and his band to play a song of their own – I Love You All the Time. In recent weeks, Hughes encouraged bands to cover this song (taken from their newest album, Zipper Down) as a sign of solidarity. The likes of My Morning Jacket and Savages have all done so.

The whole show was filmed and broadcast on HBO, and you can watch fan-shot footage of last night’s performance below.
