Imagine Dragons at the Sportpaleis: A World Class Band in Their Prime

There doesn’t seem to be an awful lot stopping Imagine Dragons these days. The Dan Reynolds-fronted Las Vegas sensations have gone from strength to strength over the course of the last five years, currently finding themselves atop the arena rock pyramid thanks to their infectious (albeit predictable) indie rock and catchy choruses, a combination which has proven to be all too incendiary in today’s instant society. On Friday night, their intense live show stopped off at the Sportpaleis in Antwerpen, with a crowd of 18,000 bearing witness to a world class live band who are currently in their prime. The music might not be quite to everyone’s tastes, and the onstage rawness of days gone by may have been streamlined, but the live show which they put on during the Belgian stop of their current worldwide jaunt proved that they’ve definitely still got it. New hype K. Flay joined them, and Dewi Mik went to check it out.
