Metallica have announced their intentions to sue current drummer Lars Ulrich for misleading them about his drumming experience.
The news comes as the thrash metal titans prepare to tour the world once more, this time in support of their first new album in seven years.
Leaked information about the suit suggests that frontman James Hetfield was led to believe Ulrich was a far superior drummer based on initial audition tapes. Reports further imply that Ulrich misled Hetfield by way of “sheer determination, charm and a few hundred thousand dollars“.
Why it’s taken this long for a suit to emerge is a mystery, and when reached for comment neither Ulrich nor Metallica’s representatives chose to comment.
