Radiohead to Complete New Album This Year

Radiohead drummer Philip Selway has shed some light on the progress behind the band’s upcoming ninth album. In an interview with Press Association, Selway discusses their plans to finish the follow-up to 2011′s The King of Limbs.

Earlier this year, Selway (an unofficial spokesperson for the record of late) declared September the month in which album #9 will become a full “priority”.

We’ve got quite a busy autumn coming up,” he said. “We want to finish a record and that’s where we’re at. We’re just launching ourselves into it.”

Now, Selway has confirmed that the band are well and truly back at work, adding that they’re exploring new ways and approaches to making music. “We kind of change record to record, try and change the underlying approach to making music” said the percussionist, who released his own solo album Weatherhouse last year.

When we can expect the record remains to be seen, although considering frontman Thom Yorke’s recent sporadic behaviour regarding releases, you could expect it when you least anticipate.
