The German leg of Lollapalooza, Lollapalooza Berlin, has been plagued with logistical trouble over the years. Its first edition, which took place at Tempelhof Airfield, required relocation following the discovery of WWII bombs, with 2016’s follow-up receiving public criticism for its extremely central Treptower Park location. Now, in its third year, the festival has been met with more struggle: a hard-to-reach horse racing track some 15km outside Berlin. Its opening day was met with long queues, packed public transport and disgruntled visitors.
Despite this, though, you could suggest that the festival’s third outing was by far its most successful. Foo Fighters and Mumford & Sons topped the bill, with the undercard featuring the likes of The xx, London Grammar, Metronomy and The Vaccines. We sent Natasja de Vries to check out proceedings, and she returned with the below gallery.
