Teignmouth rockers Muse have confirmed that they will release a brand new track later this week.
Thought Contagion is the first piece of music to come from Matt Bellamy and co. since last year’s synth-centric Dig Down, with a release slated for this week Thursday (15 February).
In teasing the new track, the three-piece shared a gleaming, neon-tinted poster which depicts bassist Chris Wolstenholme wearing sunglasses in front of a palm tree and futuristic vehicle. The vehicle’s numberplate subsequently shares the 02.15 release date, with an accompanying music video having been filmed in Los Angeles also expected this week.
Tweeting about the track last year, frontman and guitar virtuoso Bellamy likened Thought Contagion to older cut Fury (a bonus track from 2003’s Absolution), a vicious slice of gloomy guitars and piercing rhythms. Taking to the microblogging platform, he wrote: “a great track, rocking, heavy“.
Further details surrounding the track’s release, such as premiere and a music video, are yet to be cemented. Rich Costey worked with the band on the track, marking twelve years since his last time producing the band on 2006’s Black Holes & Revelations.
Thought Contagion is due on Thursday. Listen to last year’s standalone single, Dig Down, below.
