Columbus, Ohio’s Rock on the Range is often seen as the first major port of call for American festival season, boasting a line-up which makes it the perfect kick-off event. This year is like no other, with Columbus’ massive MAPFRE Stadium playing host to tens of thousands of excited revellers all there with one common cause: to rock the fuck out and never look back. Surprisingly enough, the first day of Rock on the Range saw an unlikely highlight in rapper Machine Gun Kelly, who impressed the baying masses with cuts from new album bloom. Also standing out on day one were Underøath, a band whose current US tour has seen them sell out venues all across the country. We’ve sent Christian Sarkine to Columbus for the entire duration of Rock on the Range, and below you’ll find a snapshot of the first day’s best sets.
