Africa by Toto is still the greatest song of all time, it seems.

You may recall an article from last year in which we told you that the classic rock anthem beat out Eiffel 65’s Blue (Da Ba Dee) to the title, winning 76% of the vote and 100% of our hearts.

Now, a study has confirmed that nothing much has changed and that this absolute banger of a tune is still the best piece of music to exist. Researchers at the Music Centre Rotterdam (MCR) announced this today (1 April) in a follow-up piece to last year’s vote.

The power contained within those four and a bit minutes is unparalleled and unrivalled by anything which came before or after it” said one researcher, adding that “the song’s modern day popularity is testament to its sheer memorability and outright sonic beauty”.

Toto released Africa in 1982, with the track forming out part of their fourth and most critically acclaimed studio album, Toto IV.
